Initial comprehensive evaluation
Your first appointment is a chance for us to get to know each other and talk through what’s been going on. This will be a thorough psychiatric evaluation used to better understand your symptoms, concerns, and overall mental health. We’ll discuss your current concerns, symptoms, personal and medical history, and any past treatment experiences, while also making space for any questions you may have.
By the end of the visit, Shirley will review recommended treatment options. Together, we’ll decide whether to move forward and begin developing a plan that feels right for you.
(typically 45-60 min.)
Psychiatry
Psychiatry refers to medication management, a collaborative process focused on finding the right medication and dosage to best support your mental health goals. During visits, we also consider the broader biological, psychological, and social aspects of your well-being. We will outline your options and schedule follow-ups to support your progress. Visits are generally more frequent during the initial or adjustment phase and less frequent once stability is reached.
(typically 20-30 min.)
Combined psychiatry and therapy
Shirley offers combined medication management and therapy for those who may benefit. This integrated approach supports the whole person by addressing symptoms while also gently exploring the thoughts, emotions, and patterns that shape your experiences. Care is personalized to meet both your psychological and medical needs, with ongoing support provided within a cohesive and thoughtful plan. These visits are usually on a weekly or biweekly basis.
(typically 45-55 min.)
